CheapVacations.ca was a 100% Canadian-owned and operated online travel company specialising in affordable vacations. With the tagline “Why spend the extra money?”, it helped Canadians find great deals on all-inclusive packages, cruises, and getaways to the Caribbean, Cuba, Mexico, and beyond, with friendly Canadian agents just a toll-free call away.
The Challenge
Netholidays.ca, a client we built several websites for, wanted to reach more travellers and drive more sales. The strategy was a network of keyword-focused sister sites, each built around a popular search term. CheapVacations.ca was one of them, and it needed to grab the attention of budget-minded travellers, show off the best deals at a glance, and let visitors search and book vacations right on the site.
Solution & Strategy
We created a cheerful brand built around a smiling sun in sunglasses, then designed a bright sky-blue site with a relaxing beach-patio backdrop that feels like the first day of vacation. We built it as a custom WordPress template in HTML and CSS and integrated a travel booking API to power live searches and bookings. A vacation package search with filters for departure city, destination, dates, budget, hotel rating, and amenities sits inside the hero slider. Below it, a deals grid organised by Mexico, Cuba, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, and the Dominican Republic puts the best prices front and centre. A “Never miss a deal!” newsletter sign-up, travel blog, Twitter feed, and toll-free number keep travellers engaged and ready to book.
