3D Upper Laser Concept
The 3D Upper Laser Concept is a futuristic laser module modelled and rendered in 3D Studio Max by InterVolt Development as a portfolio piece. Shown in an exploded view, the design highlights each part, from a precision spring coil and magnetic piston to an optics front plate and semi-transparent casing, with labelled callouts and a material colour guide.
The Challenge
This was a self-initiated portfolio project and a hands-on way to build skills in 3D Studio Max. The goal was to model a believable, high-tech device with multiple parts, apply realistic metal, magnetic, and ceramic materials, and present it clearly enough that viewers could understand how each piece fits together.
Solution & Strategy
We modelled each component in 3D Studio Max, including a stainless steel spring coil, a dark magnetic-core piston, a brushed aluminum front plate, and a frosted, semi-transparent rear casing, then arranged them in an exploded view on a brushed metal surface. Careful lighting and reflections give the render a polished, studio-quality look. In Photoshop, we added labelled callouts, design notes, and a colour swatch guide of metallic silver, charcoal grey, and matte grey, turning the render into a clean, technical presentation.
